Voices of Breast Cancer, Volume Two
LaChance Publishing is seeking true, first-hand stories of literary merit for Volume 2 of its acclaimed Voices of Breast Cancer anthology. If you or someone you know has had breast cancer and wish to share your heartfelt, inspiring, true story of facing this life-defining challenge, this could be a great way for you to give courage and comfort to others while building your writing resume.
Build your deepest core of feelings and true experience into a narrative that will rivet the reader’s attention and foster a sense of hope and community. Your story should focus on one of the topics listed below:
Discovery and Diagnosis: How did you discover your cancer? What were your fears and how did you deal with them?
Taking Charge of My Treatment: What hurdles did you face in seeking and getting treatment, and how did you handle the day to day challenges of going from diagnosis to treatment and beyond?
Dealing with Physical Changes: How did the changes you went through make you feel about yourself and the world? How did you handle the emotional and physical challenges?
Family and Friends: How did your diagnosis and treatment affect those around you? How did it affect your intimacy with your mate, and how did you deal with these challenges? Were there issues in the workplace? Did you have to explain your cancer to your children?
Looking Back: When did you go from identifying yourself as a patient to identifying you as a survivor? What new perspectives have you gained from the experience of breast cancer? What have you gained and what have you lost? How has it felt to cross the 1, 5, 10-year survivor mark?
Multiple submissions are accepted. Your story or stories should contain a minimum of 600 words and a maximum of 4,500 words. A fee will be paid for stories accepted for publication.
